This Easter, Little House of Science invites young explorers to embark on three captivating scientific adventures. Week one, ‘Chemical Adventures: Discovering Reactions and Elements,’ dives into the fascinating world of chemistry, from explosive reactions to the building blocks of matter. Week two, ‘Think Architecture: Shapes, Materials & Cities of the Future,’ challenges budding architects to design and build, exploring historical landmarks and futuristic concepts. Finally, week three, ‘Great Minds in Science: Visionaries Who Transformed the World,’ celebrates the pioneers of science, uncovering their groundbreaking discoveries and inspiring future generations.
Week 1: Chemical Adventures: Discovering Reactions and Elements
- Day 1: What is Chemistry? Atoms, the Periodic Table, and Chemical Bonding.
- Day 2: Chemical Reactions, States of Matter, and Amazing Materials.
- Day 3: Acids, Alkalis, Carbon, Carbon Dioxide, and Radioactivity.
- Day 4: Metallic Elements, Polymers, and Recycling.
- Day 5: Density, Elements in the Body, Crystals, and Chromatography.
Week 2: Think Architecture: Shapes, Materials & Cities of the Future
- Day 1: Engineers vs. Architects, Architectural Landmarks, and Properties of Materials.
- Day 2: Columns, Beams, Arches, and Towers.
- Day 3: Architects like Gaudi, Hadid, and Foster, and Naval Engineering.
- Day 4: Animal Architects, Sustainable Architecture, and Designing Your Own Home.
- Day 5: Castles, Biomimicry, Bridges, and Space Architecture.
Week 3: Great Minds in Science: Visionaries Who Transformed the World
- Day 1: Archimedes, Jennifer Doudna, Fibonacci, and Mary Anning.
- Day 2: Kingdom Brunel, Dorothy Hodgkin, Wegener, Galileo, and Copernicus.
- Day 3: Lynn Margulis, Charles Darwin, Inge Lehman, and Rachel Carson.
